About me

Welcome to my sewing corner, my name is Cristina (aka @burutapen) and I was born in San Sebastian, Spain, but have lived in London since 1998.

I have always been a curious person with a never ending thirst for knowledge. I paint, draw, write, photograph, cook, do gardening and thanks to a dear friend of mine, since 2008, having fulfilled a childhood dream, I sew.

I have learnt a lot about myself whilst sewing. I have also learnt that who I am and the way I do things in a day to day basis is reflected entirely in the way I sew ... In a funny sort of way, it felt like the missing piece of the puzzle.

I make dresses in the same way I cook, paint or the same way I make cardboard models... I cut some bits of material, sew them together, and see what unveils...

I guess, looking from the outside, it is not surprising that this would happen; however never the less it did surprise me.
